NGÔ Hoàng Hải

Status:
Serious injuries, admitted to hospital emergency of BV Đa Khoa Tỉnh Cà Mau.

Occupation:
7th grade
Middle school student
School/Trường THCS Trần Quốc Toản
Viilage/xã Thạnh Phú
District/huyện Cái Nước
Province/Tỉnh Cà Mau

Date:
March 21, 2015

Incident:
According to Hải's family, the family brought him to the hospital after taking him out of police station in Thạnh Phú village in the afternoon of March 19, 2015. The hospital checked on his injuries and notified the family that his outbound nerves were damaged.

Family was writing protesting letter to province Cà Mau's government officials claiming that the village's security police had unusual behaviors, having signs of beatings to serious injuries.

Early in the day (Mar 19), there are many students of the 7th grade of school/Trường THCS Trần Quốc Toản being interrogated by the police regarding the stolen money incident.

Mrs. Lê Thị Hân, Hải's mother, said "There were 2  men identified themselves as policemen TRẦN, Quốc Bảo and NGUYỄN, Thanh Thảo, they came asking my son Hải come to the police station for a working session. Around noon, I heard someone told me that my son was beaten, I ran there but they didn't let me in..."

According to the school, police suggested the school to let them take a student and the school refused. But police said they had notified the student's family and already requested the family, therefore they just took the student anyway...

On Mar 21, when public interest became heating up about police didn't treat the students correctly (there are 8 students being interrogated and signs of beatings), police and leaders of the village committee/UBND xã Thạnh Phú sidestepped the issue by saying that they were busy with family errands and weekend day to avoid supplying information.

Blogger's Comment:
According to Vietnam's Security Department's Report in Mar 2015: From Jan 10, 2011 to Sept 30, 2014, there are 226 persons died in temporary police transitional cells.

Originated from the brutal force, the regime has designed the police CULTURE of beating at first sign and torture. This culture has to be changed.
